Avatar New York's Green Initiative

Avatar New York is proud to have received accreditation from Green-e.  Avatar New York is making a commitment to reduce our own energy emissions by purchasing renewable energy certificates or (RECs) from approved renewable energy organizations. Green-e.org is a subsidiary of the Center for Resource Solutions, a non-profit that researches climate change and provides initiatives and programs that effectively combat the negative impacts of man-made pollution.

Avatar New York has joined forces to offset 100% of our annual electricity usage with the Carbon Solutions Group, an environmental consulting firm specializing in Green House Gases (GHG) inventory and risk management. Each year Avatar New York will be purchasing 24 RECs, which reduces 24,000 kilowatt hours of electricity that would have been generated by coal. Avatar New York’s purchase of renewable electricity encourages the development of new renewable energy generation facilities across the country, cleaning our National Electric grid.

Eighty percent of U.S. GHGs are the result of burning fossil fuels and U.S. businesses are accountable for 50% of energy consumption. We at Avatar New York have joined other environmental leaders in contributing to effective strategies for combating climate change. We are doing this by purchasing Biomass renewable energy from the Carbon Solutions Group. Biomass renewable energy uses energy from plants and plant derived products, most specifically food crops, grassy and woody plants, residues from agriculture or forestry, and the organic component of municipal and industrial wastes.

From Avatar New York’s inception, our team has been an eclectic mix of personalities and different backgrounds.  We share a deep respect for the world outside of the virtual marketplace that we work in. We are team comprised of surfers, scuba divers, hikers and outdoor aficionados.
